ANOTHER BATTLE BETWEEN PANTHERS AND JETS

AMHERSTVIEW, ON – The Port Hope Panthers picked up a hard-fought 3–2 road win over the Amherstview Jets on Wednesday night at the W.J. Henderson Recreation Centre, earning a valuable two points in a tightly contested matchup.

Port Hope struck first midway through the opening period, capitalizing on the power play at 12:28. Luca Damiani-Reis opened the scoring with his fourth of the season, finishing a setup from Zach Naherne and Cam McGrogan to give the Panthers a 1–0 lead after one.

The Jets answered early in the second period when Erik Findlater tied the game just 1:42 in. The Panthers responded in timely fashion once again, this time while shorthanded. Christian Sokoljuk jumped on an opportunity at 4:30, scoring his 21st goal of the season unassisted to restore Port Hope’s one-goal advantage heading into the third.

Amherstview pushed back early in the final frame, as Thomas Elkins evened the score at 2:23. The Panthers didn’t waver, and their persistence paid off midway through the period. At 8:41, Sokoljuk struck for the second time on the night, burying the game-winning goal with assists from Sidney Wakely and Sutton Scheck to make it 3–2.

The remainder of the third period was penalty-free, and the Panthers locked things down defensively to close out the win.

Sokoljuk’s two-goal performance, including a shorthanded marker and the eventual game-winner, led the way offensively, while the Panthers’ special teams proved to be a difference-maker on the road.

Port Hope has two games remaining on the 2025 calendar, both at home, as they take on Lakefield Saturday night followed by an afternoon match-up against the Napanee Raiders on Sunday.
