General Manager – Port Hope Panthers
The Port Hope Panthers are seeking an experienced, motivated, and community-focused General Manager to contribute to hockey operations side of our organization. The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the team’s identity through player recruitment, roster management, relationship building, and long-term organizational development.
We are looking for a strong leader with experience in hockey operations, scouting, and team management who understands the importance of building a competitive and development-focused culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all player recruitment, scouting, and roster management initiatives for the organization
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with players, families, coaches, agents, and minor hockey organizations
- Oversee player retention strategies and support player advancement opportunities
- Manage and coordinate scouting networks and recruitment efforts throughout the season
- Work collaboratively with the Head Coach, Hockey Operations staff, and ownership to align team goals and organizational direction
- Maintain a strong understanding of Hockey Canada regulations, player movement policies, and league rules to ensure compliance
- Identify and recruit high-character athletes who align with the organization’s culture and values
- Support team operations including player evaluations, trades, affiliate relationships, and off-season planning
- Represent the Port Hope Panthers professionally within the community and across the hockey landscape
Qualifications
- Experience in hockey leadership, team management, recruitment, and scouting
- Strong understanding of the minor hockey development system
- Working knowledge of Hockey Canada rules and regulations, including player movement procedures
- Proven ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with athletes, families, staff, and stakeholders
- Strong organizational, leadership, and decision-making skills
- Passion for player development and community hockey
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous junior hockey management experience
- Established network within minor and junior hockey
- Experience managing scouting operations and recruitment pipelines
- Hockey Canada certifications or related hockey operations training
