HEAD COACH

Head Coach – Port Hope Panthers

The Port Hope Panthers are seeking a passionate, experienced, and culture-driven Head Coach to lead our organization into the next chapter of player and team development. We are looking for a leader who brings elite-level coaching experience, strong communication skills, and a commitment to creating a positive, accountable, and competitive environment for our players and staff.

This role is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a proud hockey community while helping develop athletes both on and off the ice.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all on-ice and bench operations for the Port Hope Panthers
  • Build and maintain a strong team culture rooted in accountability, professionalism, development, and respect
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing coaching and support staff
  • Work collaboratively with Hockey Operations staff and ownership to align on organizational goals and player development priorities
  • Develop and implement practice plans, systems, and game strategies focused on team success and individual growth
  • Support player recruitment, evaluation, and retention efforts
  • Foster strong communication with players, staff, families, and organizational stakeholders
  • Promote a positive and professional representation of the Port Hope Panthers within the community and league

Qualifications

  • Previous coaching experience at an elite level of hockey
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Proven ability to build team culture and develop players
  • Experience working collaboratively within a hockey operations structure
  • Ability to recruit and lead a cohesive coaching staff
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Passion for player development and community-based hockey

Preferred Qualifications

  • Junior hockey coaching experience
  • Hockey Canada certifications in good standing
  • Experience in player recruitment and scouting
  • Background in mentoring and staff development
