In arguably their best team game of the season on Saturday night the Port Hope Panthers relied on a six goal first period to secure a win over the division leading Amhertsview Jets.
The Panthers offence kicked it into high gear during the first period on Saturday, peppering the Jets netminders with a combined 21 shots. Goal scorers in the first frame were as follows: J. Papageorgiou (1), Kelly (2), Paziuk (1), Patrick (1) and McGarvey (1).
Things got a little testy toward the end of the period, and multiple players from both teams were ejected, including Panthers leading scorer Nolan Stevenson.
The second and third period were far less busy for the scorekeepers, and when the final horn sounded, the Panthers were able to secure their first win against the Jets this season.
Goal scorers in the second and third for the Panthers included Camden Stickney, and Jack Papageorgiou.
Sam Dingle provided the home side with another stellar performance in net, stopping 30 of 32 shots thrown his way. Dingle improved his record on the season to 7-3-1, with his last loss coming from the month of October.
