The Port Hope Panthers put together another solid weekend of hockey, taking home four out of a possible six points.
The weekend slate of games were all played on the road, the first of two 3-in-3 sets that the Panthers play during this season.
On Friday night, the Panthers travelled to Campbellford to take on the Rebels. Led by the stellar play of goaltender Sam Dingle (8-4-1-0, 2.52 GAA, .905 SV%) the Panthers skated to a 5-1 win. Logan Kelly and Carter Clarke led the Panthers offence, each recording 1 goal and 2 assists. Other goal scorers included Nolan Stevenson, Michael Patrick and Clayton Farrow, which was Farrow’s first PJHL goal. Assists were awarded to the following players: Perley Fry (1), Clapperton (1), Patrick (1), and newly signed defenceman Lakoseljac (1).
The Panthers travelled back to Campbellford on Saturday night, and skated away with a similar result. Goaltender Aidan Thomson (3-3-0-2, 2.97 GAA, .908SV%) looked confident between the pipes, and helped the Panthers secure a 9-1 win. The following players made their way onto the scoresheet: Newly acquired defenceman Riley Mcbride (1A), Perley Fry (1A), J. Papageorgiou (1G 1A), Wright (2A), Stickney (1G), McGarvey (2A), Patrick (3A), Kelly (3G 1A), Clarke (2G 2A), Paziuk (1A).
On Sunday the Panthers were back on the road as they travelled down the 401 to take on the division leading Amhertsview Jets. The Jets took an early lead and never looked back. Led by their barrage of 3 special teams goals, the Jets skated to a 6-2 win. Panthers scorers were Stickney (1G), Stevenson (1G), Kelloway (1A), Kelly (1A), Paziuk (1A).
The Panthers return to the ice Thursday night as they travel to Picton to take on the Pirates. The Pirates then make the return trip on Saturday, as they travel to Jack Burger for a 7:30pm puck drop on December 18 for the Panthers “Spirit of Christmas” game.
