PANTHERS DOMINATE REBELS TO GO UP 2-0

PORT HOPE, ON – Panthers put on a dominant performance on Saturday night in their 7-1 win over the Rebels to take a 2-0 series lead in front of over 300 fans.

It was Nate Burelle who opened the scoring for the Panthers at 4:57 of the period off a cross ice pass from Isaac Langdon. Tyler McGarvey also assisted on the play. Former Panthers forward Owen Hammond was called for Hooking at 16:50 of the first and Port Hope capitalized on their only power play of the period off a Brandon Rose one-timer. Assists went to Noah Richard and Sidney Wakely.

Port Hope was quick to extend the lead by three as Captain Isaac Langdon found the back of the net 0:49 seconds into the frame. Linemates Dailen Fousek and Burelle assisted on the play. After getting called for hooking earlier on in the period, Port Hope’s Spencer Eriksson made good on his opportunity in front at 15:06 making it 4-0 Panthers. Andrew Roberts and Hunter Wright had the assists on the play. The Rebels lone goal came shortly after at 16:45 by Kaleb Brown. At the end of 40-minutes, Panthers led 4-1.

The third period was all Port Hope with two quick goals coming before the 5-minute mark. AP Pax Murphy netted his first in the PJHL, assisted by McGarvey and Eriksson and 13 seconds later, Isaac Langdon scored his second of the night with Burelle earning his third assist of the evening. Port Hopes final goal came at 17:45 off the stick of Murphy, his second on the night, assisted by Eriksson and Mason Simpson.

Brayden Friedrich earned the win in net, his second of the series, stopping 14 of Campbellfords 15 shots. At the other end, despite allowing 7 goals, Campbellford Goalie Braden Henderson stood on his head stopping 48 of Port Hopes 55 shots.
