TRENT HILLS, ON – Panthers travelled north on Sunday afternoon looking to bounce back vs. Trent Hills following their Friday night loss to Amherstview.
Opening the scoring early was Noah Richard who found the back of net just 3:45 into the game. Thunder tied the game four minutes later off a bad bounce. Clayton Farrow put a harmless puck towards the net, it hit the skate of a defending Panthers player and made it’s way past Friedrich who was caught tracking the puck in it’s original direction.
The bad bounce against the Panthers would be reciprocated. Emmett Clarke fired a shot from the point, the puck bounced off a Thunder player and redirected into the back of the net. Panthers headed to the dressing room up 2-1 after 20 and would start the second period on the power play.
Already short-handed, Trent Hills took a second penalty for cross-checking at 1:17 giving Port Hope a 5 on 3. Panthers made no mistake of the two-man advantage as Sidney Wakely fired a puck from the point past Thunder goaltender and extended the lead 3-1.
Port Hope showed great patience and puck control as they carried the play for the remainder of the second and into the third with majority of the game being played in the Thunder zone. Brayden Friedrich had 13 saves on the afternoon and Panthers would earn the 3-1 win.
