Panthers Fall to Raiders on Home Ice

PORT HOPE, ON – The Port Hope Panthers were unable to slow down a surging Napanee Raiders offense, falling 5–1 in a game that remained tight through two periods before getting away late.

Napanee opened the scoring midway through the first period when Mason Goodfellow found space in the slot and converted at 11:55 to give the Raiders a 1–0 lead. Despite the setback, the Panthers held strong defensively and kept the period clean of penalties, heading into the intermission down just one.

Port Hope came out energized in the second and quickly made their push. With the Panthers on the power play, Sutton Scheck buried his fifth of the season at 2:32, finishing off a crisp passing sequence from Christian Sokoljuk and Spencer Eriksson to tie the game 1–1. The momentum shift was short-lived, however, as the Raiders regained the lead minutes later when Reid Lambert put Napanee back on top at 6:55.

A tense, physical middle frame featured three penalties — including a double minor to Napanee — but the Panthers were unable to capitalize and entered the third period still within striking distance at 2–1.

The Raiders took control early in the final frame. Goodfellow struck again at 6:29 for his second of the night, extending the lead to 3–1. Just 30 seconds later, Owen Lutz added another, making it 4–1. Napanee continued to press, and Goodfellow completed the hat trick at 8:20 on the power play, pushing the game out of reach for Port Hope.

Despite the final score, the Panthers showed resilience, highlighted by a strong second-period push, solid special teams execution on their lone power-play opportunity, and continued scoring contributions from Scheck and Sokoljuk.

Port Hope will look to regroup and bounce back in their next outing on the road Wednesday when they head to Amherstview. Puck Drop is set for 7:30 PM.
