PANTHERS MOVE INTO SECOND WITH WIN OVER NAPANEE

NAPANEE, ON – Although early in the season, Friday night was a battle for second place between the Port Hope Panthers and the Napanee Raiders.

Isaac Langdon opened the scoring two and a half minutes into the game when he picked off a pass and put it past Raiders goaltender Logan Vale. The Panthers had two power plays in the first period but were unable to capitalize on either of them.

Port Hope extended their lead early in the second when Sidney Wakely moved in from the point and received a pass from Brandon Rose to net his second of the season. Raiders would cut the lead in half on a goal by Cameron Krupa who was stopped on his initial breakaway attempt by Dominic Marquis, but was able to put the rebound in.

The only action on the score sheet the rest of the game would be penalties as both teams exchanged multiple roughing calls during a hard fought third period.

The 2-1 win gives the Panthers sole possession of second place as they prepare for two more games in three days as they host the Campbellford Rebels on Saturday before heading to Frankford to take on the Huskies on Monday night.

Puck Drop for Saturday’s game at Jack Burger Sports Complex is set for 7:30 PM.
